Reach for the cloud…

Here at Atkinsons nothing pleases us more than moving a client from their historical, clunky legacy system to the cloud, and our recent project was a seamless transition to Xero and Dear Inventory.

It all started when our (now) client contacted us after searching for Xero gold partners in Yorkshire. As the first Xero Gold partners in York and one of a handful in Yorkshire we had the expertise and experience to help.

Their previous accountants advised that due to a complex stock system and complicated VAT calculations based on the global accounting scheme, moving to Xero would not be possible… but we thought differently.

Xero is the latest cloud based accounting software that is taking the accounting industry by storm. The ease of use, transparency and clarity of the numbers make it a must for any serious entrepreneur / owner managed business. One of Xero’s new features is an inventory system – which is ok for basic stock sales but certainly not sophisticated enough to deal with any complex stock requirements. However this is not a barrier for a company looking to switch across.

The Xero add-on market place has various third party software that seamlessly link with Xero. With our knowledge of the add-on market we knew that Dear Inventory Systems was the best in class to cope with the complex stock requirements. In addition Dear Inventory Systems is sophisticated enough to deal the challenging VAT reporting associated with the antique furniture market. Dear’s seamless link with Xero meant we could move the client away from their historical accounts package (Navision) to be 100% in the cloud –  a remarkable solution.

But we didn’t stop there….  Dear Inventory Systems has a barcode reading feature and after sourcing a barcode scanner and aligning this with the printed stock tickets, we helped our client set up a fully integrated barcode scanning system. This now makes stocktaking a dream and has certainly helped with the efficiency of the day-to-day operations.
